I am having a problem sending mail from a customer's web application. The application has been in place and running with no problem for sometime. It sends posting notifications from a small discussion board 1 to 6 or 8 email messages at a time.
After upgrading Imail from 6.06 to 8.04 and moving the system behind our firewall I started having problems with random mail delivery of messages from this one web application. Sometimes the messages go through fine sometimes they are queued for a queue run or three. Sometimes they sit there until it sends a "Undeliverable Mail" notification. Which is delivered with no problem. The Imail server is setup to store and forward mail to this customer's Exchange mail server. This was working fine before I upgraded to 8.04. I have a relay for address listing for this customer's ip and the webserver, I have a host file entry pointing to his Exchange servers ip address and I have a MX record pointing to his server. I have checked the MX record with the dnsstuff.com site and it looks like it is resolving properly. Over the weekend I patched up the server to 8.05hf1. Setup: W2000 server dual P3 CPUs 512 MB ram the os is patched up to latest releases. Imail 8.05hf1 Declude Junk mail Std 1.75 server process aprox 1000 messages per day I have followed the knowledge base article on "MX connect fail" using the public ip for the email domains and added the BindToIP reg key. My Name Server is on separate system and very lightly loaded. The Imail server sends and receives both local and remotely without problem for all other users and web applications.
