When I go to dnsstuff.com and lookup the charlesindustries.com MX record it
resolves to 216.142.222.179, is there something I am missing here?

Yes, I can telnet to port 25 on 216.142.222.179 and to 64.81.149.22 as well.
There were 8 different ip address that the mail server was trying to send to
all failed. I cut down the log to make the post shorter.

The only "MX connect fail" messages I see in the logs are sent from this one
web application. Sometimes after two or three queue runs they will be sent
sometimes they will sit there until the queue mgr sends an undeliverable
notice. In the mean time mail will come and go normally.
