Good thought - I have gone into F-Prot and listed as exceptions the .smd/mdx/lst
type files, and it seems to be running smoother.

BTW all my incoming with exception of one domain comes in via a gateway server,
which does A/V scan the mail, so the vast majority of incoming virus mails are
already stripped before entering the Imail system.

: Are you using the F-Prot on-access scanner? It is recommended NOT to use
: the F-Prot on-access scanner on an IMail server (it will cause a lot of
: extra load, as it will scan .smd/.mbx files; it can delete legitimate
: E-mails; and, if not used with a mailserver virus scanning product, it will
: probably let quite a few viruses through).
