How did they go about reinstalling it? If it was a thorough job, the only
other recourse (that I know of without bashing your head into a wall) is
reinstall the OS. You'll spend more time trying to figure it out from here
than actually get anything else accomplished, IMO.

I've had similar issues from my users and after install/reinstall
updates/upgrades/patches, resetting settings, System Restore (if it's an
option), or convincing the user to use a different browser...reinstalling
the OS has always done the trick.

She said that she had a tech-savvy friend come and reinstall IE6 and all 
the updates.
