I had the same problem w a customer... If the situation is the same ... ie:-

1. Your customer typed in the CORRECT username (full email id) and
password.
2. There is nothing wrong with her IE. Anyone with IE 6 logging in to
the same domain would have the same problem.
3. Your customer gets LOGIN FAILURE. However, if they are lucky...
after trying to login a few times... she will eventually get in. *sigh*
4. OR .. upon LOGIN FAILURE message, ask her to press the REFRESH key.
She should be logged in.

Basically, your customer did managed to log in ... somehow she got the LOGIN
FAILURE page instead. REFRESH would solve the problem.
I have sleepless nites with this problem as well ... sigh... kept getting
complaints but there is nothing I can do. IF SOMEONE out there knows
how to solve this problem PLEASE LET ME KNOW... I AM BEGGING YOU ....

So far, what i gathered is .. it doesnt happen to EVERYONE on the SAME iMail
server ... only selected "lucky" few gets this.
I know its not a problem with DOMAIN SETTING and all .. because ALL the
email domains in my server
has the exact same setting ... maybe its the VIRTUAL number ... am thinking
of deleting the domain ... creating a dummy domain to take
over the LUCKY VIRTUAL id and recreate the domain under a new VIRTUAL number
.... havent tried it yet.

You say that the web logs show "login failure"... and the file shows nothing
more complex than that. Actually it should say: "Auth Error Failed
Authentication - [EMAIL PROTECTED] xx.xx.xx.xx. Tries:x SuspendFlag:0
SuspendTimes:0".. or something like that with different figures.. right?

If that is right, then the user might be typing the password incorrectly.

Let's suppose she uses a password with a special character like @, #, %, *
and for some reason the keyboard layout changed or there is a problem with
that keyboard and a key is repeated twice after your press it. Bottom line
she thinks that she is typing the password right and actually that is not
true. It works at her friend's computer.. but not hers.. that makes sense.

And the log line is right.. "Auth error Failed...." IMAIL is not receiving
the right password.

So my next test would be to create a test user with a '123' password and ask
her to try to log in with the new test account using her computer. Or change
her password to '123' and ask her to login using the new password. Use
numbers instead of letters to avoid caps lock issues. If she can login you
might know the source of the problem.

Hope it helps.
