Simon,

Actually, Ipswitch -DID- announce that these features would be available as
an add-on to Imail MONTHS ago. The package was supposed to be released this
past April or May, as I recall. Well, the release date came and went, and
the few times that Ipswitch mentioned the add-on package they eluded to the
fact that they were having some type of problems, but that the add-on module
would eventually be forthcoming. They were claiming this as recently as two
weeks ago!

That's why most of us were so shocked that this product, which was announced
as an add-on module to Imail, was suddenly being forced upon us as part of
an "integrated" (yeah, right!) package. The decision to make this a bundled
offering was purely made from a financial standpoint, not from a logical or
technical one. The odd part is that either Ipswitch has either been lying to
us for months now about their plans, or they only decided to pull this stunt
as recently as two weeks ago. This certainly does NOT sound like a very well
laid-out or organized plan to me, especially considering the reaction they
got. So, either they were lying to us for months, or this whole scheme was
cooked up practically overnight. Neither is a very flattering scenario. I
would be interested to hear from Ipswitch management exactly when they made
the decision to do this.
