I really like SmarterMail because the web mail looks awesome and runs in IIS. I know a lot of people don't care for that but it has served us well. I can buy enterprise smartermail for less than the cost of ipswitch's new "support" fee so that works for me. SmarterTools seems to have a lot going for them so I believe they will adopt whatever new standard comes along well before ipswitch will.

I've been looking at different possibilities, including hanging in here another year but haven't made a firm decision yet. While exploring the different possibilities of spam protection, I talked to this one sales person that is convinced that the fight against spam will come down to a new standard within the next year. He said at that time everyone will need to adopt that new standard if they want to send mail on the Internet. I tend to believe him because of the way he presented it and all that he said about the each of the big players each with their own idea about how to solve the growing spam problem. With this in mind I may just but a Declude band-aid on Imail for now and wait to see what happens. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Bill Foresman Sent: Saturday, November 06, 2004 9:49 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [IMail Forum] OT: Need to Vent That's why I'm not clear on how ipswtich is maintaining that their support is a loss at $495 per year. Doesn't matter anymore as we'll be moving on anyway but it just begs the question. I would actually think that Cisco would have far more support issues than Ipswitch due to the relative complexity of their products. While quality of the products is certainly a large factor, there are only so many ways to configure email server software. With routers, there are nearly an infinite number of ways a router might be configured for nearly an infinite number of situations. Even experienced Cisco consultants wind up contacting Cisco support for help with tricky installs.
