We are planning an Ipswitch Imail 8.1x install for Q1 of 2005. One of our goals is to migrate the mail that is currently stored in the Outlook .PST file on the workstations to the IMail server. After the mail is migrated, we are planning on using Outlook to connect to the IMail server via IMAP, when possible.
I am trying to figure out how to migrate mail from the .PST files to the server. In some cases, these .PST files are over 300MB. Hmmm, how to migrate... OPTION #1 Basically, we would add the IMAP service to Outlook and point it to the IMail server. We could then drag and drop the messages from the Inbox and any folders the user has locally to the Imail server. This seems to work ok, but is very labor intenstive. I suspect migrating a couple of hundred users in this manner would be a nightmare. OPTION #2 Purchase and use something like UniAccess to migrate the email from the .PST to the Imail server. I have tried UniAccess, and it seems decent, but it my testing, it seems to "loose" the attachment association in emails it transfers. This is kind of a deal killer. Does anyone know of other utilities for mail migration. Again, we need to move email from the local .PST file to the IMail server... Thanks in advance, Marty P.
