Okay, given that I'm not going to get this out in one go, here's the X and
Desktop Environment level functional list, which is a little bit closer to home
and involves less thought from my point of view. I'll try and work on the rest
of the stack over the weekend, and I know it's likely that you care about that
part more.
If anyone wants to suggest bits missed, or help provide a list for some of the
