I would think that the main problem with zfs is it's very high memory
requirements. We would have to make it very clear to users why they need
so much memory to run OpenSolaris. That said, I believe that zfs is the
way to go.

  The ZFS ARC size can be reduced by using  set zfs:zfs_arc_max = <size>
  parameter in /etc/system. This should reduce ZFS memory requirements.
