As promised, here's the stats for the root filesystem on my system,
which is installed with an entire cluster of nv_64 + all locales:
# zfs list tank/rootfs-nv_64 tank/rootfs-nv_64-compressed
NAME USED AVAIL REFER MOUNTPOINT
tank/rootfs-nv_64 7.35G 1.42G 6.13G legacy
tank/rootfs-nv_64-compressed 3.64G 1.42G 3.65G /tank/rootfs-nv_64-compressed
# zfs get compressratio tank/rootfs-nv_64-compressed
NAME PROPERTY VALUE
SOURCE
tank/rootfs-nv_64-compressed compressratio 1.62x -
There's a bug that's getting in the way of compressed root filesystems
at the moment unfortunately:
6541114 GRUB/ZFS fails to load files from a default compressed (lzjb) root
cheers,
tim
