You say you do not have a 'strong opinion on this', and you want proper
arguments. Ok, on what basis, language quality, application quality,
usage?

Easy tiger.

Do I need strong opinions to ask for good arguments to do something? I'm
trying to listen to what people have to say on this.

I turn on my phone and I see java. I have a java smart-card in my
wallet. How small do you want it to go?

What does that have to do with any of my questions?

Browser plugin. Java Webstart. Not having to reconfigure Open Office
'per user' when you add Java.

So you haven't answered the key question. Are we talking about core/minimal
or Live/InstallerCD?
