Are you excluding Java?

Preferably - it's a pretty huge component, so if I could avoid its dependency,
then I'd like to see it punted to the network repository.

Java needs to be in the core so that developers targeting Solaris,
OpenSolaris, and OpenSolaris-derived distributions know with certainty
that it is present. Same goes for Perl and Python. Indeed, this is a big
part of why Java was open sourced--so it could get baked into the Linux
distros, ending the need for developers to work around the uncertainty
of whether or not it would be there (and, if so, which version was
there etc.). This is also why the Linux Standard Base is in the
process of adding Perl and Python to the next version (so that
the Linux distros can have some common baseline) and why Sun is
actively engaging with the LSB to ensure Java gets in as well.
