As long as it's just a "beta" or "test" and not a "product," there's no such issue. Project teams already do this today by shipping BFU images -- or "frkit" bits -- without going through any architectural approval process. I know of no requirement to do ARC review before shipping a test image. I'd certainly like to see projects coming in for ARC review as *early* as possible, and certainly earlier than shipping any bits at all, but that doesn't always happen, and I don't believe it's a requirement. If Sun thinks this is something other than a "beta" or "test" image, then we may well have a problem here, but it's still not an OGB problem. It's a Sun process problem, because such a project would be bypassing Sun's long-standing product delivery mechanisms. > It's fine for experiemtns on OpenSolaris and I'm all for that, but it > should then not be made part of the "distro with mature components". ... without appropriate review. -- James Carlson, Solaris Networking <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sun Microsystems / 35 Network Drive 71.232W Vox +1 781 442 2084 MS UBUR02-212 / Burlington MA 01803-2757 42.496N Fax +1 781 442 1677 _______________________________________________ indiana-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/indiana-discuss
