Installing other distributions in parallel to OpenSolaris in the
same pool, e.g. Milax. Belenix, etc.
None of our tools really support that type of installation so you'll
Most likely have to do all this completely manually.
Also I would like this feature to reinstall for example a snapshot
of the rootfs which I saved on another medium.
I haven't tried this yet but it may be possible to do something like
this using something similar to "beadm create -e <snapshot> -p <root
pool> <be name>".

OK, then I'll create an RFE for that feature.

If you are just attempting to create a BE on a different pool
based on an existing BE you can use the "beadm create -p" option
to create that new BE on a different pool. This uses zfs
send/receive under the covers to copy the BE from one pool to
another.
Short answer: Right now there is no interface in beadm to allow
creating an empty boot environment.

Hi,
with lucreate in Solaris I can create an empty boot environment
and use a flashimage to install that boot environment. Can I do
something similar with beadm in OpenSolaris?
e.g.
create an empty boot environment and use zfs send/receive to
populate that boot environment
Or can this be done manually (if yes, how?)?
