Ohhh . . . a Mac. I think it's that thing that's working for me
right now and that I really haven't had those headaches with . . .

We found out the other day that lightspeed is now doing the safe
search on moderate instead of strict safe search so keep that in
mind. According to one of the big wigs at lightspeed (heaven knows
we have talked to them almost daily now for a month), the tech
people are asking them to put it back to strict or allow us the
choice.
I will explain our problem. A teacher brought the school laptop
back after break and used it on his home network which was having
problems at the time (Yes we tell them not to but usually the agent
is updated). He then put it on our network and it caused
problems. It was knocking down our internet. I finally found the
msddlle.exe running and found out the new version of a virus came
out around Dec 28 and guess who had it, YES we did! We have been
fighting it ever since. I believe that it stops the security agent
from running active threat, because we can run a scan and it finds
the virus but it still allows that virus to reload and other
viruses to reload. I am no tech support from lightspeed (probably
craig and I could be by now) but we have told them what we think it
is doing.
Since I haven't been very pleasant with the lightspeed people the
past week, they are now taking a more active look at our problem
and hopefully they have it solved today. The funny thing was, we
could look in the unknown programs file while lightspeed was
running and Craig and I are able to point at other versions of the
virus but lightspeed wasn't seeing them and of course you can't
delete anything out of unknown programs thru the security agent.
Cross your fingers and my true readhead temper is showing with the
company. Craig and I have made a few suggestions on how to improve
the product, Craigs were nicer than my suggestions and I hope they
use his over mine!
Now you know why I have had to hold back and hope you guys don't
get what we have.
BTW: What is a mac???????
Thanks!

We use Lightspeed for Content Filtering, Anti-virus, and Spam
Filtering.
We had some user identification issues early in the implementation,
but
everything has been great since. The problem was a mismatch of
Security
Agent Versions. Once everything was running 7.0 and up, we were good.
Terminal Service users need LS Guide to resolve usernames. It is on
the
LightSpeed Wiki. We haven't had any virus issues...but we are locked
down pretty tight. We even force Google as the search engine
choice, all
others are blocked, which forces safe search.
I even have one Mac and he has the Mac User Agent installed which
allows
reporting to be done on his traffic. I haven't upgraded to 7.02
yet, but
plan to do so shortly.
