Unfortunately, when he realized what I was asking, he suggested I start
a side business converting the books....

Anybody up for Carpal Tunnel?

Ok, a little new info...

They want a Kindle type interface which I can do using a touch screen
netbook, and it must be in a text format so that it can be converted to
audio.

And just for fun, they want the books to be for the Accelerated Reader
testing system.

They don't want much do they?

I wasn't there . . . so if this isn't what was discussed I apologize.
We've had great luck (esp. at the upper level) with Lit2Go
--downloadable audio files (that will import into your iTunes) and
finding chapters/books for download. Following are the sites Donna had
sent after the meeting--I've had experience with some of these regarding
audio files of books for students to listen to. I would also recommend
contacting the publisher(s) of any textbooks you have, as many of those
now come with audio CDs of all the text.

For those additional items we need . . . we've been using GarageBand to
record things.

FWIW

I am passing along these websites as requested yesterday at the tech

Please share these with teachers.

www.nypl.org click on digital collections, then click on tumble books

I can't remember the sources for converting books to audio or text

I have been told that no student qualifies for the state resources for
these conversions in Iowa, I don't know how true that is, but I am in a
hurry to get some sources.

Help.
