I'm sorry to keep this going, but..........
On 12 November 15.05 I ,probably rather naively
asked.................
"Jay, what
is this?
all it does
is tie up my machine and recurs ad infinitum.
To what
purpose?"
Being a simple man and merely
an interested amateur in this field I have noted the various responses....and
sadly I am now no nearer understanding....what the 'thing' is or what it
does.
I eventually got it off my
computer...I use W95/IE/OE.....after it had advised me that it
had created a new file as a place holder for theAUTOEXC.BAT file
which had been saved under the name AUTOEXEC.TSH
Splendid! Sharon....suggests I
should look at this as a learning experience...and if necessary upgrade virus
scan &/or other protection .
Jay advises that if I have a
problem....I should disable java script, and WSH or be very careful when using
IE or OE
My difficulty
is...
I don't know what I have
learned....other than that Jay drew attention to his site,which he agrees does
not at the moment work very well,and that there are a number of very
knowledgeable and computer literate participants to this List.
I find myself in the position
tho.............to quote Clinton....'the people have spoken but it will take a
while to understand what they said'
I need advice as to
whether I do have a problem.......based on what the 'thing' did
If I had
received it from an 'unknown' source,I would have been hesitant to Open
it.
I have
virus protection...IPE Real-time Boot-ON File& Macro-on.
What happens..if I disable
java script and/or WSH.
Why does the machine have them
,if it doesn't need them
Where do I find
them?
I would greatly
appreciate being pointed in the direction of a helpful URL
even .
