Rich, I'd vote to make the 'default' to hide the string, but allow the admin
to change the behavior to display the string. What you have to show in
demo'ing the product and the way it is generally used in production is the
difference.

My .02 anyway.

I must confess to being surprised by this broad support. I have always felt
uncomfortable doing demonstrations and having to type the community string
in full public view...

I propose that InterMapper continue to display the bullets/asterisks when
typing or viewing the community string field as it does in 4.1.2b6. However,
we'd add the ability to Control/Right-click on that field to display the
community string (briefly). 

Does that satisfy your needs? Thanks!
