Interestingly, this was a counter example I thought about when composing my mail. It has been an occasional worry at exhibitions we have been at. I think in that situation it would be nice to have a preference to enable/disable the security feature. For myself, I find it handy to see the actual community string as-is, normally. Then, if you need to hide them for a demo, you can - it should probably hide the default community listed in the Prefs, too. I did briefly consider security aspects related to leaving the machine unattended at exhibitions, but it would probably require a lot more effort to make an IM system secure in that environment and if that were really a problem, one might just use IMRemote instead. So I was left feeling that's my responsibility and not that of InterMapper. >I propose that InterMapper continue to display the bullets/asterisks when typing >or viewing the community string field as it does in 4.1.2b6. If we had this as well as the global enable/disable pref that would be just fine. -- Tim ____________________________________________________________________ List archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/intermapper-talk%40list.dartware.com/ To unsubscribe: send email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
