So do those results get cached or if I close my flows window and
reopen it, it will forget all the names and start resolving again?

So, I'm confused, now? How does the Flows know what name to put
instead of
IP? Does it use the PTR record in the DNS?
IM Flows consists of two pieces, a server and a client. The server
code installs and runs on the InterMapper Server and collects
netflow packets. The server piece doesn't bother with names at all.
The client code is a plugin that runs within the InterMapper GUI on
the client computer. The client code runs a query against the flows
server and displays the results. The results do not include any
names, so the client resolves these using DNS PTR records.
The client uses the system-provided API's to resolve PTR records in
DNS. On Windows, the DNS api's will substitute the WINS host name if
you query the name of your own host.
I hope this helps.
