Thanks for bringing up the issue. I'd like to add a couple more related 'interface enable/disable' items that could really use some help.
Yes, if you don't have a big screen and didn't already think ahead to lay out your window spaces, it can be a very time-consuming and frustrating experience. Even if you think ahead and have a big screen, you have to go back and forth when enabling interfaces, because you need to go to the map to locate the newly enabled interface and drag it to where you really want it. Being able to leave the interfaces window open would save an enormous amount of time and menu clicking. When an interface is enabled to show, it sometimes ends up 'a million miles away', making you drag it a very long way to get it back within bounds of your existing map area. Much worse, it may end up buried behind other objects. When that happens, you have to really hunt for it! Ocassionaly, the 'select adjacent..' function helps, but otherwise, you have to start moving objects around to find it. Then you have readjust all those again. Extremely frustrating. These are my requests to help deal with these: 1) allow simultaneous access to the Interfaces and Map windows 2) newly enabled interfaces should always show in reasonably unoccupied spaces nearest the associated host, or if no unoccupied space can be ascertained programatically then at least display them in front/top of other objects. 3) auto-select newly enabled interfaces 4) possibly 'blink' the newly displayed interface(s) like the find feature does 5) I think the 'select adjacent' function already brings the objects to the front, but if not, that is desirable. Also, can it be made to 'blink' the selected items? When you open the interfaces window on a device, you cannot touch the underlying map without closing the window. I normally open the window to check what the window says compared to what is on map. But I have to open/close the window sometimes a half dozen times or more. I can move the window around but I can't do anything on the map itself. Is there any reason we can't do work while this window is active?
