Try to use any decent newsreader and there you have everything you are 
missing.

I do note that we also have a misunderstanding. I am not talking about that 
readonly webinterface http://news.php.net/php.internals. I am talking about 
the newsserver news://news.php.net/. You do notice the different URI scheme?

Even I do agree, I also didn't expect SourceForge going loko and they did. 
So nothing to learn from that?

Yeah, probably I'm the only guy who is using this old technology. Sorry I'm 
from the last millenium. Well nowadays there's obviously only web.
