Patch looks good although I'm not too familiar with that part of the code.
I tested it locally and it doesn't really seem to have a big impact on
performance (3 threads pounding 1 row with ICVs).
I'm not sure about putting this into 0.94 tho, we're already pretty late in the
point releases for changes like this one.
