Mark Robert Miller commented on SOLR-14636: ------------------------------------------- I don’t really choose where to stop, sometimes I wish I could. I’m happy with stopping points, I’m super leisurely by nature, stopping points are my jam. But stopping points are stable. This is why issue by issue will never even begin to approach this work. You can’t expose gremlins and then just let them hang out - when the system is great, those gremlins have no slow to hide in and other devs and the users will have to face them in the light. This is the reason I’ve done way the hell more than I intended every time. It’s a sweater thread. You can leave some crap on the sleeves dangling, but not much else. There is only one scope here - the core of the system works. Otherwise I’d be making real changes all over, not fixing everything that exists. > Provide a reference implementation for SolrCloud that is stable and fast. > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > > Key: SOLR-14636 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SOLR-14636 > Project: Solr > Issue Type: Task > Reporter: Mark Robert Miller > Assignee: Mark Robert Miller > Priority: Major > Attachments: IMG_5575 (1).jpg, jenkins.png, solr-ref-branch.gif > > > SolrCloud powers critical infrastructure and needs the ability to run quickly > with stability.
