Mark Robert Miller commented on SOLR-14636: ------------------------------------------- And this really leads directly to why this project was not ready for this kind of work a year ago. The frustration I get when I hear pushback about designs and schedules and plans and redos. Unless you come to me and say you visited the shaman and had revelations, you will end up in the exact same spot every time. I'll even give you the benefit of the doubt that your revelations are valid, more benefit than I mostly got after a pretty much perfect record of not lying or falsely exaggerating in a misleading way ALWAYS (eg not the type of thing when I say trillions and just mean a lot). But if anyone wants to tell me the problem is with how the system is designed without revelation, and that they have the designs that would actually work, that's a leap of faith even beyond me. The implementation is 90% of the problem and action and would be regardless of what design it was fulfilling. And then another group of people have gotten more and more comfortable at various times over the years showing off how lovely their collaboration and communication skills can be in their base personalities and for a decade it's bothered me tremendously as I've watched it butcher our former amazing community and so I thought that must be fair game these days. I'm such a lightweight in my post teens that even then, you got about 100x better than where my base and suppressed personality can easily go. There is a reason we had silly mostly unspoken etiquette rules in the best times of Lucene, regardless of who you were or what your private time personality was. Collaboration and community came first. And then of course, Solr and Lucene sharing a PMC and being the same project has moved beyond stupid long ago. What an irreconcilable nightmare it is at this point. Things started to rot. I don't expect anyone new or relatively new or above the to totally catch that, but if that's not you and didn't recognize it, well done on the head in the sand routine. > Provide a reference implementation for SolrCloud that is stable and fast. > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > > Key: SOLR-14636 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SOLR-14636 > Project: Solr > Issue Type: Task > Reporter: Mark Robert Miller > Assignee: Mark Robert Miller > Priority: Major > Attachments: IMG_5575 (1).jpg, jenkins.png, solr-ref-branch.gif > > > SolrCloud powers critical infrastructure and needs the ability to run quickly > with stability.
