Not sure how this would affect a fork run out of Russia or Australia, though
the US courts would probably roll over. Also need to point out that the song
that was plagiarized did not have an open source license attached to it nor
did Madonna's song credit the person who made the claim.

Interesting example, but the US has its share of over-the-top judgments re
copyrights. It was one of the driving forces behind the GPL. I'm on the
fence about a fork, but I'm pretty sure the LGPL allows it.

Google for the words "Madonna", "Frozen", and "Belgium"
if you want to know which kind of jurisdiction you're facing.

(Each time Madonna perform in Belgium, she risks being arrested
if she sings the song Frozen. The song is banned from all rankings,
and you won't find it on any compilation or "Best of" album in
Belgian shops.)
