Hi 1T3XT BVBA?, I am on a unix system, so the .exe won't help too much :). Also the jar had 3 missing libs incl. an older version of itext. I dont know if itext-rups-1.0.0.jar is meant to do something, but starting it with java -jar itext-rups-1.0.0.jar invokes a process that stays alive but does nothing that I can see.
Anyway I have to access the information inside another java application so I don't exactly understand how RUPS can help me with that. Does the visual inspection somehow provide insides that I can use in iText to get easier access to the information? About the layer/OCG confusion: I know, I started out by searching for these Optional Content Groups but found nothing inside the PDF. I don't know why AdobeAcrobatReader calls them Layers if they are Annotations inside the document. I'll try to mine my way through the document, the information has to be there somewhere.. It allows you to inspect the PDF syntax. See http://www.flickr.com/photos/itextinaction/4484123398 for a screen shot. 6 0 R is a Reference to the object with number 6. RUPS will allow you to access that object directly and to look what's inside. That's easier than programming your way through the PDF as you're currently doing. This being said, when you talk about a "layer", I think about OCG. Your description however, makes me think about annotations. In short: it's not entirely clear to me what you're talking about. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ EMC VNX: the world's simplest storage, starting under $10K The only unified storage solution that offers unified management Up to 160% more powerful than alternatives and 25% more efficient.
