Hi John,

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately it didn't help me at all :-(
Can you make a recording with the tinny sound and make it available for 
download (or mail it to me)? A recording that starts bad and then 
switches to good (using the -q0 flag) would be best.

I suspect that I will need ssh access to someones computer (preferably 
with a fast uplink) in order to track this down.

I also hope that the 'tinny' sound isn't too subtle: the audio of my 
motherboard is of very low quality: something broke a few months ago 
giving me what's best described as tinny sound :-) And no, that's not 
from the PVR card!
