The newest cx25480 firmware prerelease seems to fix my audio problem. I'm not going to rejoice until I go a week without any bad sounding myth recordings, but in all my testing today it was reproducible to get bad sound using any of the old firmware verions and good sound using the latest prerelease.
I downloaded the latest zip file from here: ftp://ftp.shspvr.com/download/wintv-pvr_150-500/prerelease/ After extracting, the necessary firmware is called HcwMakoC.ROM md5sum: 99836e41ccb28c7b373e87686f93712a an older HcwMakoC.ROM with md5sum: e8e7153dbf12f90d252b8df2966bc183 did not solve the problem. Also tried other versions of HcwMakoA and HcwMakoB and none of them fixed the problem. I also found that just reloading the cx25840 module with the new firmware did not solve the problem. I had to do a complete shutdown of the computer after installing new firmware. My working system: PVR-500 kernel 2.5.15.1 ivtv 0.4.3 mythtv 0.19 So now I just have to wait and see if this keeps working in the long term. I'm interested to see if this fixes anyone else's problem.
