This sucks, I already have a myth recording with bad audio, but my original experiment is still reproducable. Could someone else do this experiment to confirm I'm not losing my mind. Alternate the following procedure several times between old and new firmware and test how often the audio goes bad: - install firmware, full powerdown and restart - mplayer /dev/video0 - use ivtv-tune to change channels and note when audio is bad (I did about 50 channel changes) (note: after a few channel changes, mplayer gets out of a/v sync so I just restart it)
I cycled between the old and new firmware at least 5 times and got bad audio on about 10% of channel changes with old firmware. Never got bad audio with new firmware. New firmware seems rock solid... So how could new firmware fix the problem when using mplayer/ivtv-tune, but not when using mythtv. Is there a difference in how myth changes channels vs. how ivtv-tune changes channels? Or maybe it's not about how mythtv changes channels, but how it initializes video capture for each recording? It seems to me that if mythtv would just change channels and start recording without any other messing with my PVR card, then it should work as well as mplayer.
