Some might remember an earlier post where I had assumed that my
pvr250mce tuner was blown (just get static now) and that I needed to
get a replacement for it.

Well I was just checking my system logfiles to just see how the system
was running and noticed something startling.

I'm getting the infamous dmesg log entry:

ivtv: Setting Tuner 47
tuner: tuner type not set

I don't really understand, now I'm going through my system and trying
to figure out why my tuner stopped working all of a sudden. The
kernel and tuner.o is the same as it's always been (since september).
Also now I can't remember when it went out.. I just remember thinking
it had to do with a power outage. I've been updating some stuff from
mandrake 10.1, but I can't remember all the things I've updated off
it. Maybe one of those updates did it. hmm.

Anyways, if the tuner is defective (like fried), would you expect to
see static coming back from it? I don't think so, though now I'm sad
I didn't notice this earlier.

I seem to remember that "tuner not set" is always just a matter of the
tuner.o module not being compiled right. In my case I didn't change
the kernel at all and somehow my tuner went from working to not set.
Hoping someone might have seen something like this before?

Alan
