Video1 is my 150 and video0 is the 350. I then tried setting my
150 volume to the same value as my 350, and it claimed it worked,
but it didn't seem to:
This is true. There is no volume control code for the PVR-150
or PVR-500. For most people it is ok since the AVC circuitry
should automatically adjust the volume to a reasonable output
level. However, for others it seems that this doesn't work and
produces LOOUUUD recordings. Someone had a patch to add a module-
wide volume control which is usually sufficient to quiet things
down. Check the list archives.

This thread includes a patch that allows a module option to set the
volume level on the cx25840, along with an example volume level. I
don't know if the patch ever went into the snapshots or not.
