This is right along the lines of what I was thinking. I just applied version
3 of your patch, and it works beautifully. The volume on my 150 sounds like
it's pretty much right at the level that 350 is at. Even if it is slightly
lower (or even higher), I'm not going to complain. It's sooo much better
than before. Here are the readings from ivtvctl in case you're curious:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~ $ sudo ivtvctl -Y
ioctl: VIDIOC_QUERYCTRL
Brightness = 127
Contrast = 63
Saturation = 63
Hue = 0
Volume = 58950
Mute = 0
[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~ $ sudo ivtvctl -d /dev/video1 -Y
ioctl: VIDIOC_QUERYCTRL
Brightness = 127
Contrast = 63
Saturation = 63
Hue = 0
Volume = 58744
Mute = 1

Where video1 is the 150...

I hope this helps, and thanks a lot. This works out much better. Let me know
if there's anything else you want me to test.
