That pretty much sums up why look and feel issues should (almost) never be given to coders to cure. For various reasons I'm also making the (painful) transfer from eclipse to NetBeans. One big difference is that the eclipse look and feel gives the impression that it was designed rather than simply implemented. The Nimbus LaF is a massive improvement over metal but the blobby 3D look went out of fashion some years ago with everyone else.
