Pardon me, but you sound like having been seduced by Kurzweil's books... have you read any of his stuff? What gives you such an optimistic outlook, considering researchers to this day are still struggling with just understanding facets of the human brain (why we need sleep, what is conscienceless, how can fobies rule over rationale, why time appears to accelerate etc.)?
It's no more than 50 years ago doctors hammered ice picks into the frontal lobe of patients in the belief that they could cure psychological disorders.
