My name is Flor without an a at the end. <gender difference, grins>. The statement from the training site - as you quote it - is, at least in general, untrue, since I (and many other JAWS users) regularly use Notepad with JAWS and have no problem.

I wasn't clear with my question and I apologize for being vague. Actually, the Say All command works fine. I can't read line by line, or by character or word. No big deal! I'll just use Word for these situations and accept Notepad's limitations with JAWS. I realize Notepad is ancient technology, but if anyone is interested, I found the following statement from a training site: "Notepad for JAWS users - although you can access the Notepad, JAWS will not read back any text entered - we suggest that you use an alternative note taking programme such as MS Word or MS Notepad." [end of quote] Thanks again!
