Rick has come closest so far. Thanks Rick.
Like I said, after I hit alt-d or f6, hitting control-c says "nothing
selected" If I then hit control-a and then control-c, it again says,
"nothing selected". Trying to paste at that point is fruitless, since
nothing was selected. I have tried, and nothing pastes.
using the JAWS cursor, I can see the address, but need to click on it if I
want to select it.
I tried the instructions that Rick gave, and they worked, however, as a
test, I then closed IE, and tried again, and no joy. I got the "nothing
selected" warning again.
I will play around with this some more since it seems promising. But as
configured, alt-d and f6 do not work at all for me at this point in time.
Either my address bar isn't where something expects it to be, or some
other setting in IE is causing the address bar not to play nicely with
this keystroke.
Yes, address bar is checked in my view / tool bar menu.

Hi Dan,
It sounds like your address bar has somehow moved, and that is why it is not
performing as expected.
Try this:
1. While in Internet Explorer, go to the view menu, and then open the
toolbars sub-menu.
2. Arrow to, lock the toolbars, and if it is checked, uncheck it.
3. Route Jaws to PC, and then go to the top of the page, and then search with
the Jaws cursor until you find the word address.
4. With the cursor positioned on any part of the word, address, do a double
left mouse click.
5. Now, return to the PC cursor, and then try the F6 key to see if this puts
the URL into focus.
6. If this works, return to the view menu, and then the toolbars sub-menu,
and check, lock the toolbars.
If you cannot focus on the word address, you may need sighted assistance.
