Hi Michelle, I've never used Adobe XI Pro but, the only way to know for sure is check your settings in preferences / Security Enhanced & see if that, Enable Protected Mode at startup, checkbox is unchecked.
Take Care. Do you know if the same occurs there? Michelle -----Original Message----- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Mike B. This checkbox needs to be unchecked in prior versions but, I don't recall which tab in preferences it's in but, I think it might be in the Security tab. They made several changes from Adobe Reader 9 preferences to newer version preferences. I don't know what differences there are between Adobe Acrobat & Adobe Reader, if any. Take Care. I am not sure how to do this in an older version of Adobe as v.9, but in Adobe Reader 11, there must in settings, "Settings extended" uncheck the box where pdf-document's are opened in protected mode. Probably you find this on the General tab in v.9. During this past week I have had difficulty with two different .pdf documents, both protected. I cannot say more about the protection, JAWS says protected document, and I am able to read it for a while. Then my computer slows down drastically, JAWS loses focus, and I cannot use my computer until I give it a hard reset or a sighted person closes the .pdf document. Has anyone had this experience or know of a way to get around it. Also, this last document has links to other documents which I need to access, but they don't show up as links. When I enter on their names nothing happens. This may be a separate issue, but also important to me, as I need to read this documentation for work. BTW, I am using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro. I am investigating having Acrobat Reader installed to see if this might help. I would appreciate any ideas from this list. Thank you.
