The primary reason for this unfortunate situation is that the board get
similar requests extremely often, and do not have a well-defined process
to handle it, combined with events (over which we have had little
control) that have made our work somewhat difficult. A better solution
to handle these things is indeed needed. The one you proposed is however
a highly inappropriate one, for reasons mentioned.
That said, what we do encourage is for people to look over the codebase
and see what they find to be missing and of personal interest to them,
and just do it. I'm contiuously amazed by the number of people who
actually do this, and quite successfully too.
The bottom line is that if you really want to help, there's nothing to
stop you.

That is your perspective. I, and most others who work on JBoss, have a
different one.
If you're so put down by it, maybe you should find another project that
suits you better.

I said that the design of the system was most excellent, just not
appropriate in this context. Anything else is your own interpretation.
