I agree, lets get a real use case then see what the simplest solution is.  In 
the mean time I don't see any reason not to make this pluggable, so that users 
can come up with any arbitrary complexity for deployment scanning which they 
have a jones for.... as long as we leave the default config setup as the UDS 
is now.
