"JessDE (7.0.0) requires plug-in org.eclipse.pde.ui"
Any clues what this means ?
Michael
Yes I do; you've identified the problem. That missing plugin is part
of the "Plugin Development Environment" or "PDE", which used to be
part of the standard Eclipse download, but as I see from the web
site, now isn't part of the featured "Java Developer's Version." When
I downloaded, I downloaded the "classic" Eclipse, which is larger,
but contains the PDE and other stuff I need. So you could get a
working version right now by downloading "Classic", or by using the
Eclipse software updater to add the PDE to your installation; but...
JessDE shouldn't depend on the PDE;this is an error on our part. I've
already looked into where the dependency comes from, and it can be
easily
removed for the next release; it looks like a simple mistake.
If you'd like to try to fix this yourself:
1) Shutdown Eclipse
2) Edit the file <eclipse>/plugins/gov.sandia.jess_7.0.0/META-INF/
MANIFEST.MF
3) Delete the line that says "org.eclipse.pde.ui,"
4) Save the file
5) Start eclipse with "-clean" to make sure the change is picked up.
The JessDE should then be working. Let us know.
Thanks for your patience in looking into this and helping us
understand your problem.
