Can,
I take a slightly different view of all the frameworks under Jakarta.
I think it is actually a strength of open source to enable so many
good albeit differing technologies to compete. Open source has enabled
software evolution on steroids. Difficult for architects to keep up -
you bet.
Although I haven't looked at Keel in depth it seems like a good idea.
Surround individual technologies with decorators that allow them to be
plugged into the Keel framework so that you can add/remove/replace
contributing best-of-breed technologies without major effort. Ok, but
the last time I looked at Keel (about a month ago) it really didn't
have all the pieces in places yet. It had a core but a lot of the
surrounding pieces were not done. Might be worth some time for
Jetspeed developers to talk with the Keel team and see exactly where
they are.
