If you just want to know how to add people to the address book it is easy
enough. You can either do it manually, or one other way is to tab to the
"from" field if you receive a message and want to add that person to the
addressbook. Then press shift+f10 and choose "add to contacts"

There may even be easier ways but this is how I do it.

Harry, I'm not quite sure what you are trying to ask. But I can assure you
it is possible to backup data from Outlook. I would encourage anyone to
read the help a little before assuming something isn't possible. You will
save yourself a lot of frustration.

As big as you please on the Outlook file menu is "import and export" which
will accomplish what you want. You can back up your contacts folder from
there. I would use "export to a file" and choose the "personal folder
(.pst)" format if you only want to be able to get your data back into
Outlook. There are any number of ways to export data. There is also
"archive" from the file menu which I haven't bothered to investigate but I'm
sure it might be something to look at if you are interested in saving stuff.
