check boxes

When I go to ad-remove programs, then click on windows setup, I am
presented with a list of checked and unchecked items.  However, jfw thinks
they're all list boxes and will not tell me if the items are checked or
unchecked.  What do I do?
hitting insert-f1 tells me that the item is a list box, so it's really
annoying because I cannot tell which item is marked.  Can you help?
