You need to reassign the window class for those particular controls. Move
the focus to one of the list box items you described. Press Control+7. The
reassign window class dialog should appear. Press tab to get to the list of
window classes jaws recognizes. press c or down arrow through the list to
get to checkbox. Hit enter. Press enter again when you hear OK button. The
next time you return to the offending control, jaws should treat it as a
checkbox. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
