I installed jfw on a new IBM Aptiva with Windows 98 and have been getting
frequent "illegal operation" messages, crashes, and cannot shut it off in
the usual manner. I have to turn off the switch manually.
I made all the Windows 98 settings recommended by HJ and by people on the
forum: -- unchecked "view as web page", "animate windows... " and changed
the radio button to "classic", etc.
When I tried to change the recommended JAWS settings, I opened the Config
Mgr with Insert-6 and tried to select "Graphics and "Symbols" I got an
"illegal operation" message and the computer froze.
If I start up the computer and don't start jfw, everything works fine.
Once I go into jfw there are problems. Even if I exit jfw before shutting
down, I get the "illegal operation" message and have to throw the switch to
shut down.
What's wrong?
