I haven't experienced this one myself though I've found that task tray access under 98
in general can sometimes be a bit screwey.
There were a few posts a while back that told of a cuple of different solutions to
this problem.
I've been exceedingly happy with my gateway's performance with jfw, though I've never
tried to label graphics in the task tray, since the tooltip reading functions of jfw
pick the graphics labels up for me.
What's this jawbone of which you speak?
As for the video card, its a trident cyber 9397 and the trident website is
http://www.trid.com
I don't, however, recommend that you use non gateway drivers with gateway hardware,
since gateway have done some fairly significant modifications themselves, particularly
to make the graphics and sound drivers cooperate with their dvd hardware/software
properly, and you will likely end up not being able to use features like your dvd
drive, and/or video capture capabilities.
As regard to the 32bit/16 bit driver issue, I have no idea. I ran my machine in its
default configuration, it worked, end of story.
