For what it is worth, you can also press F4, that's function key F4, to get 
to the address bar in IE 5.  I'm not sure what this key does because a list 
of a couple addresses is then available for cursoring up and down through 
but it isn't a history list.  If you press escape once you are on the 
standard address bar for edits or whatever you want.
