Careful,
Something looks wrong there to me! ATS=10 dosn't look right to me. This is
the Hayes command set for setting a modem register however you must specify
the number of that register you wish to set. The correct syntax would be
ATS#=10 where # is the modem register number. Don't know which register was
intended, they do different things, one of which is timeout the modem, if
that is what the tech was aiming to do.
You can get a help list from your modem with a terminal programme, I know
how to do it from DOS but no idea under windows. Do not however randomly
select a register to change, you may get into big troubles particularly if
you do not know the original setting for it.
